SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Do you want to be part of the professional R&D environment at Jotun? Then this is your opportunity! As a technician in R&D, you will work closely with chemists and participate in the development, testing and evaluation of Powder Coatings. You will be part of a professional and vibrant environment and your workplace will be in our new Research and Development Center located at our headquarters in Sandefjord.

Jotun Powder Coatings promotes innovative products to meet increasing global demand for coatings solutions free of Volatile Organic Compounds. These products range from beautiful and durable coatings for buildings facades, high performance anti-corrosion coatings that provide long-lasting steel protection in any climate, coatings with wide range of colours, texture and metallic finishes for appliance and furniture, to game changing powder coatings for natural and engineered wood.

Our team works with Powder Coating products designed to protect steel from corrosion. Our tasks include maintaining current and developing new products for pipelines and general industry steel. This position involves systematic laboratory work guided by a chemist.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and test the department’s products in accordance with a request from the chemist and/or plan.
  • Work together with chemist, in developing, testing and evaluating paint/binder/raw materials.
  • Participate in project work and project groups with professional and practical support.
  • Report results continuously, in writing and orally, also create simple standard reports, to ensure that stakeholders are informed.
  • Knowledge and use of necessary safety equipment as described and to take into consideration general safety, this includes being able to understand content and the meaning of safety data sheets.
  • Ensure that the necessary raw materials, packaging and other laboratory equipment are available to ensure an effective work environment.
  • Assist the chemist in developing and maintaining products by making, testing and evaluating paint/binder/raw materials to contribute in reaching the goals of the R&D plan.
  • Attend to the daily order in the laboratory so that the workspace is tidy, safe and pleasant.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned in the laboratory.

Qualifications:
  • High School and approved certificate chemical laboratory/process, graduates are welcome to apply
  • Preferably with experience as technician in chemical laboratory
  • English proficiency - intermediate to good
